Happy Birthday to me! It was actually Monday however the celebrations began last Friday when we got to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. This was our second year attending and we had a blast eating and drinking around the world.
We started day one off at the Greenhouse Guru in Future world with the Chilled Tomato Gazpacho with lump crab meat, Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire roasted salsa and to wash it all down Chateau Set. Michelle Cold Creek Vineyard Riesling.
As we made our way to France we also munched on the Grilled Beef Skewer with Romaine, Apricots and Feta with the Festival Cabernet Sauvignon, unfortunately I did not snap a pic of this tasty treat. But take my word it was delicious. We also stopped in Canada for the Cheddar Cheese soup and some of the Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef filet Mignon. We weren’t full yet so we continued on and boy did we eat Fishermans Pie, Lamb stew with Neeps & Totties with some Bunratty Meade Honey wine, that honey wine was very very good.
In France I enjoyed my Creme Brûlée Caramel Chocolat while hubby had the Boeuf Bourguignon. Let me just say it melted in your mouth no chewing required, we paired it with the Merlot & Cabernet Blend which was phenomenal.
We couldn’t stop there so we had a flight of craft beers and some piggy wings.
I wanted start day two with my favorite croissant aux escargots in France but that plan got deterred when parking lot was too full at the Boardwalk so we couldn’t take the ferry directly to France. So we started in Patagonia with the Grilled Beef Skewer with chimichurri sauce and the Roasted Verlasso Salmon with quinoa salad and arugula chimicurri.
I did finally get my Croissant aux escargots which was so buttery and soft. Every bite was filled with escargot topped with garlic and parsley butter its really like heaven in your mouth and I wished I could have one everyday.
We took a break from the heat and headed indoors for some wine, chocolate, wine its a party in your mouth and you must try it. The wonderful Malbec and pure Ghirardelli hot chocolate it a wonderful combination and it a must try.
After spending the night eating and drinking some more we began day three very tired. But that did not stop us from enjoying the lamb chops in Australia and the sweet & spicy bush berry Shrimp.
Then off to New Zealand for the steam green lip mussels with garlic butter and toasted breadcrumbs. Along with the Seared Venison Loin with wild mushroom marsala and Kumara dumpling it was delightful.
Then we stopped off in China for the Bejing Roasted Duck in a steamed bun with hoisin sauce. The bun was soft and the duck crispy on the inside this was a tasty.
We couldn’t leave just yet we had to swing by Africa and have some of the Berbere Style Beef tenderloin tips and the Buttered Chicken with Naan.
This is where we ended our eating tour of the world and headed home to see our baby. It was a great way to spend my birthday weekend eating and enjoying the best company. Can’t wait till next year to do it again or once more before its ends this year.
