Family Fun Weekends:: Homestead Hot Air Balloon Glow Festival

I have always seen the beautiful hot air balloons on TV and all over social media.  That’s why when I heard about the Hot air Balloon Glow Festival that was coming to Miami.  I couldn’t pass up a chance to see one of those colorful balloons up close.  I could finally check seeing a hot air balloon off my bucket list.  The next thing on my bucket list to take a romantic ride in one at a larger Hot air balloon Festival.

The Hot air balloon glow festival took place down in homestead near my parent’s home.  So we took the hour drive down on the Sunday evening.  Spent some time at my parents house then headed a little further south toward Homestead. The three-day Hot air Balloon Glow took place during the evening next to the Miami Homestead Speedway.  We happen to go on the last day of the event so thought it was a good idea to arrive a little early.  That way we could secure parking and a spot to watch the hot air balloon glow as the night fell.  Hosted by Midflo a company bringing Hot air Balloon Glow festivals to new communities through the US. Admission is the cost of parking which is $20 per vehicle. We took take my parents minivan and saved on parking by using only one car.  If your interested in taking a ride on the hot air balloon you can pay in advance $20 for a tether ride.  When we purchased our tickets the tether rides were all sold out, so get your ride tickets early.

When we arrived we were hungry and it was early enough before the real balloon glow began at 7pm.  So we checked out the food trucks and other vendors that were at the hot air balloon glow.  My husband and sister found themselves some gyros, while I enjoyed a cocktail pop fusion creation.  There were a number of kids entertainment available so no one got bored, like games, train rides, and bounce house.  The cost for a five-minute train ride was $5 and ten minutes in the bounce house also another $5.  I’m sure that my ten dollars would’ve been spent better else where.  However my son seems to love those five-minute rides and bouncing up & down with other sweaty kids.

Hopefully this wonderful Hot air balloon glow festival will be back to Homestead next year.  It was truly a great experience for both myself and my kids.  Being able to see the hot air balloons together for the first time was a once in a life time experience.

The weather in March much warmer so I wore this auburn JustFab dress with an open back detail.  I styled it with some black booties, sunnies and a straw hat. That I borrowed from my sister to help protect my face from the sun.  Gold told jewelry is my go to choice.  So I layered some longer necklaces on top of my day-to-day pieces and I added the hammered metal hoops to finish the look.
