Family Fun Weekends :: Kite Days Festival at Haulover Park

A few Saturdays ago my little family and I went to the Kite Days Festival at Haulover Park.  This is an annual, fun family-friendly and free event! However you will need to pay for parking that is $7 per car or you can pay meter parking which is what we did.  We tried to make it there as early as possible so we could find a shady spot to fly our kites.  My husband found some kites at our local Hobby Lobby but if you didn’t bring one with you.  There are lots of vendors on site for you to buy a kite from.  Hosted by Skyward Kites the annual Kite Days Festival held at Haulover Park is a wonderful display of colorful kites in a variety of size and shapes.  It truly is a site to see hundreds of kites in the air at the same.  Bring your entire family for a day out in the beautiful sunshine right by the water. Enjoy flying beside other local families or a kite expert with a really cool looking kite.

I recommend bringing a blanket or chairs so you have somewhere to look up and take in all the kaleidoscope kites in the sky.  We brought our picnic blanket, a lunch, and some drinks with us for the day out.  If you didn’t bring something to eat, not to worry. There is a whole court-yard area with various food trucks so you won’t go hungry.  Even though we brought a lunch from Whole Foods.  We could not resist standing in line for some delicious lobster rolls from The Lobsta Guy Food Truck.  On our way back to our picnic blanket we passed lots of kids friendly entertainment, from bounce houses to face painting.  If you are a music lover or have a little dancer in the family then they will really enjoy the DJ.

After a day in the sun and sea breeze our first time at the Kite Days Festival was a successful family day.  We really take joy in spending time together on the weekends.  Thanks again Skyward Kites for hosting such fun family friendly event.

It was a beautiful day out for flying kites and hanging out with the family.  Since I am typically in jeans all week-long I wore this multi-color maxi dress.  I received so many complements on this maxi dress while wearing that I ended up again the next day.  It really was comfortable in the sun and love how breathable the material is.  Keeping my look simple I paired it with some tan and gold flats and blush pink accessories.  With so many pretty colors in the maxi dress styling it with a variety of accessories with be a breeze.  Maxi dresses are an easy wardrobe staple for an active mom like myself.  This one was easy for me to engage with kids and still look stylish on our family weekend out.
