Styling a Blazer Four Ways
Biker Shorts
Biker shorts are not how we remember them from the ’90s. Worn with your traditional oversized graphic tee, chunky white sneakers, and a high side ponytail is a thing of the past. Unless you are channeling your inner nineties baby, then go for it. A blazer is a more modern way to update your basic biker shorts and tee look. I like to start by grabbing a blazer in a neutral color like black or white. I have had my Zara boyfriend blazer for over 9 years now. It’s a staple in my wardrobe and can be styled in so many ways. Here I choose to pair my white Zara boyfriend blazer with white biker shorts, white booties, and The Style Edit tee from my collection. All three pieces have one cohesive color that ties them all together. I love accessories so I also added sunnies and a white belt bag that you can wear across you over the blazer or over your shoulder like I am for a more casual look. Not to worry you don’t have to spend a ton to pull off this look. Shop items you already own and play on color schemes that already exist in your current closet. This entire look came together using items I already owned. For example, if you currently have a blue or pink blazer then you might also own blue or pink leggings that you can turn into biker shorts. All you need is a scissor, needle, and thread viola DIY biker shorts. That’s how I made these white biker shorts you see down below. Once you have the two main items you just build from there. Adding your favorite graphic tee, style of shoe (i.e. flats or chunky sneaks), and accessorize. Ladies, what I love about styling an outfit is making it your own by using items that make you smile. Instantly watch your confidence shine through as you own this look.
Mom Jeans
Mom jeans can be defined as jeans worn by women who have birthed adorable little children. Okay, maybe not all the time but you get the idea. Those mom jeans get us through the day and are sometimes high waisted more so than others. High waisted mom jeans help hold in all those extra fries we had to finish off our kid’s plate. But when it comes time to styling our mom jeans, ladies, even I hit a styling roadblock. Depending on the day it could be for a number of reasons, it could be that I am feeling like I own nothing cute, or just uncomfortable in my skin, or lack of time. I am a mom and it’s a known fact that moms are busy ladies going from doctors’ appointments to kid’s activities, picking up dinner for that night, and groceries for meal planning. Moms do it all but they are left little time to put together their own looks that make them feel put together and confident in order to get through the day. That is why a great blazer is my go-to when I want to take mom jeans from every day to casual chic.
Here I am wearing Express high waisted petite jeans a cropped tan top that I added the same white Zara blazer from the look above. On my feet, I am wearing leopard print wedges and am accessorizing with a glossy black crossbody. This a great look if you are grabbing coffee with another mom before pick up or even a fun weekend brunch look. On days when you have no time to spare throw on flats instead and you’ll be out the door in no time. While feeling like you can take on anything that comes your way. I mean you are wearing your mom’s jeans which means you’ve got this!
Ballerina Skirt
This is my first tutu inspired skirt also known as ballerina skirts, have been all over my Instagram feed. I’ve been hesitant to purchase one because I had the mindset that they were costume-like. Recently I’ve seen how some women pull it off looking modern and whimsical. So I was inspired to try out the ballerina skirt trend. I found the one down below for a steal of only $15 at H&M. If you are unsure about a trend that you want to try but not splurge on. It’s okay to wait till that trendy fashion item goes on sale then you can wear it next season. I guarantee that you will see an updated version of it in the upcoming season. Fashion trends are always being reinvented that is why I don’t mind purchase trendy items out of season. By adding combat boots, a graphic tee, and a leather jacket this look goes from feminine to edgy and modern style. The key here is to make it your own, sneakers and a jean jacket are more playful and fun. Here I was going for a polished elegant grown-up style. Playing on the softer tone of neutrals and pink hues of the tulle skirt I paired it with a lace camisole, cork heels, and a gray crossbody. By adding a blazer over the shoulder helps play down the voluminous style of this tulle skirt on my petite frame.
Bodycon Dress
The bodycon and blazer combination is one of my favorite simple pairings to have in your daily repertoire. It’s really just two pieces that you build upon using accessories. But let’s be real here after two beautiful kids my bodycon dress doesn’t really accentuate my tummy in its best light any longer. Plus, I despise crunches so that soft midsection is here to stay. So if you are like me and want to disguise that yummy tummy mommy. Then belting your blazer over that bodycon dress is the trick. You can see my waist but that extra bulge we are all so worried about is outsight. Now let’s have fun with those accessories. This look pairs well with white ankle booties like down below then I added the leopard cat-eye style sunnies. Add flats to this combo for a touch of casualness or a sneak with a leopard pattern will be fun and playful.
