Summer is coming to an end for the rest of the United States but here in Fort Lauderdale summer is a year-round event for us Florida natives.  These summer days are HOT, to say the least, that is why the kids and I have been pretty much been living at the beach or pool! Above all, during a global pandemic, there is nothing better than spending time and making memories with the people you love the most. Plus mom’s we are all well aware that sun & water is the best combo when we want our littles to exert all that ENERGY!

This summer swimsuit shopping was a little different for me typically I am chasing the kids or in the water with them.  And like any woman shopping for swimsuits can become a soft spot for me. My hope is that we do away with those notions of body perfection this summer and enjoy these days in the sunshine.  Instead, how about we focus on all the beautiful parts of our bodies and the strength that they hold.  When shopping for suits this swimsuit season I focused on what I needed from a swimsuit. A suit that made me look and feel good but was also functional for having fun in the sun with my kids.

At the start of summer when I began my swimsuit search I did not limit myself to one store or brand.  I knew I was looking for chic and feminine suits that would offer good coverage and stay in place while moving around.  That is why I have a few go-to brands that I truly love for their kid-friendly swimsuits.  I was happy to find a few this summer that gets my stamp of approval!

Mom-Approved Summer Swimsuits!

Shein is a great site if you are looking for affordable petite styles.  I have found several items that fit my own personal style.  As I mentioned this summer I was trying to do away with my own body insecurities.  That’s why I really like this red high waisted floral bikini.  My favorite feature in the coverage it offers on top and around my underarm.  Although I am petite I do have a larger chest and am very self-conscious of this area since having my son and tend to shop for items that help conceal the underarm area. I opted for the high waisted bottoms since they do help cover up the extra weight from not working out in the past couple of weeks. What can I say quarantine has me a little off routine.

Shein is also great from fun a funky mommy and me styles that I absolutely adore.  Also because I love themes and dressing up for them. My son’s sixth birthday was dinosaur themed so I went on the search for dino inspired swimwear for the whole family.  On Shein, I was able to find these adorable dinosaur suits for Neve and me.  I bought this suit in a medium anticipating the weight gain but ended up having to wear a strapless bra under the top because it was still too large even for me.  I suggest staying true to your size as this particular suit runs large.

Target is another great place to find trendy-chic and feminine swimsuits.  I like to shop the clearance section for separates that I can mix and match during the summer.  The yellow high waisted tropical bikini bottoms were in clearance for less than $7.  They did have a matching top but they did not have any more in my size.  So I opted for the white ruffle top that was also in clearance and matched the white palm leaves on the high waisted bottoms. I am a sucker for the small details and love the tortoise ring detail on the straps.  For me, these small details help bring the entire look together. The feminine ruffles on the bikini top helped to cover up my underarm and kept the girls in place.

Tropical Mix and Match two Piece

I have never been a fan of one-pieces mainly because of my petite frame.  Most one-piece accentuated my short torso and made my mommy bulge more prominent.  That is not the case with this one piece.  The rouging detail on the sides of the suit helps pull in the suit to hold everything in place.  I wore this one-piece suit to the beach with my son and felt completely comfortable chasing him around on the beach.  I wasn’t worried that I would spill over my top or that I would have boob fall out the bottom of my bikini top. All things to consider when you have a large bosom.  Leopard print is a classic staple in my closet and I absolutely adore the blush pink tone of this suit.  It feels much more glam than it cost.  It has become my favorite suit this summer.

I hope that this post makes your swimsuit shopping a little easier, and also helps you feel comfortable to move and be active in your swimsuit.
