Last weekend our family head to Fort Lauderdale beach for a Mediterranean inspired lunch at Casablanca Café. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon so we decided to sit out on the patio. That way we could people watch beach goers and enjoy the salty sea breeze.

To start we had the calamari fritti with sweet peppers, zucchini, onion, rock shrimp that came with two dipping sauces – marinara and a lemon thyme aioli. I really appreciated that they offered two types of dipping sauces and enjoyed the lemon thyme aioli because it is more creamy.

There were not many kid friendly options available on the lunch menu to choose from. So my husband shared the half pound angus burger and fries with our daugther. While I tried a deconstructed version of your typical Ahi Tuna Poke bowl. The deconstruct ahi tune bowl consisted of large chunks avocado, ahi tuna, roasted pineapple, kimchee pickles, wakame, and a mound coconut-scented rice. In my opinion the presentation of a deconstructed dish really has to light up your eyes as well as your palate. although everything tasted great the presentation of the deconstructed part wasn’t that appealing to the eyes, and you know we eat with our eyes first!

Typically I wouldn’t have a drink but this Saturday I treated myself to the two Casa Cosmo Martini. It was a great way to start my weekend.

After leaving my sister who is a big fan of Casablanca Café mentioned that the crème Brule and Moroccan Lamb Shank on their dinner menu are AMAZING! I regret not trying their lamb pita during our visit. Which means we’ll just have to visit again.
